One More Year: Welcoming Back MOBA's 2017 Re-signees - Bilal Nakhli

All around the globe, soccer has touched the hearts of millions of people. From right here in the United States, to countries like England, Germany, China, Australia, and Algeria, soccer's reach makes American Football look like a game of kickball on the playground. Clubs everywhere construct their rosters with the best talent, not only from their country of origin, but from all around the world, and Peachtree City MOBA is no exception to that rule. Last season, MOBA had a number of international players, coming from the likes of the United Kingdom and Kuwait, many of whom made significant impacts throughout the season, and the latest signing happens to be one of those players.

Bilal Nakhli - Clayton State University

Nakhli, out of Paris, France, played a key role in the early parts of the 2016 PDL season before leaving the team to return to France, but now look for Bilal to play with the team throughout 2017. First playing at Spartanburg Methodist College in South Carolina, Bilal played in nineteen games during the 2013 season. During that campaign, Nakhli tallied seven goals and six assists as the Pioneers finished 14-6. Prior to the 2014 season, Bilal transferred to Clayton State University, where he would immediately become a leader on the team. Starting sixteen games in 2014, Bilal scored three goals while leading the team in assists with nine, as the Lakers finished 9-8-1 on the year. In 2015, Nakhli saw a reduced role, playing in only fifteen games and scoring two goals with one assist, however at the end of the year he was named to the All-Peach Belt Conference Academic Team. During the 2016 season, Nakhli got back to his old ways as he started sixteen games for the Lakers, scoring four goals along with four assists while playing 1133 minutes, however Clayton State finished the year a dismal 4-13. Despite that setback, Nakhli was named to the All-PBC Academic Team for the second straight year, along with fellow Laker and MOBA teammate Iain Smith.

Playing in just 4 games with MOBA during the 2016 season, Bilal took that opportunity and made the best of it, as he notched a goal and an assist in his first appearance with the team at SC United in a 3-2 loss. Bilal dressed out for the following three games, including the road win at Tormenta FC, however he departed the team before their first home game. Despite never being seen by the home crowd, Bilal proved to the MOBA coaching staff he had the potential to be a key player with the squad, and that is no doubt the reason they decided to bring him back for another season. The Parisian Forward/Midfielder brings an attacking force that MOBA struggled to present during the 2016 year, and having him for the entire season would do wonders for the teams success. Joining Todd Fidler on the attacking front, Bilal will definitely be looking to make up for the void left by Omar Jarun's move to a coaching position.

2016 MOBA Proud MOTY Award

PDL Playoffs kicked off today, thus marking the transition between regular and post season. Now that MOBA's 2016 season is complete, it is finally safe to begin handing out recognition and awards for excellence in the sport, and there is no better prize than receiving the title of 2016 Man of the Year (the association football equivalent of MVP). The sport of football is based around two principles: Pride and Teamwork. However, teamwork does not mean that nobody deserves recognition for outstanding play. A team may work well together and share the ball, but there is always at least one player that truly stands out. And that player, more often than not, receives the Man of the Year award. Match Preview: Peachtree City Open Second Half of Season Against Memphis

After such a promising start to the year that saw MOBA open 2-1-2 and reach the top of the table, back-to-back 2-0 away losses have sparked some fear that this season may degrade into a carbon copy of the previous two. As a result of the two losses and results across the division, South Georgia Tormenta FC and Mississippi Brilla FC are running away with the division, and if MOBA want to get themselves back into the race, it will require an immediate turn around and some immediate success.
