MOBA Schedules Pre-Season Friendly Against NPSL Side Georgia Revolution FC

With the founding of Atlanta United FC in Major League Soccer and Peachtree City MOBA and South Georgia Tormenta FC in the Premier Development League, the state of Georgia is truly becoming the soccer hub of the south. Soccer is capturing the hearts of millions within the southeast, from Mississippi to Virginia, and it is drawing in some incredible talent. With the wealth of teams in the area, almost any footballer from all around the globe can find a team and a city to call home in the south. On Tuesday, MOBA announced they had scheduled two friendlies against one of those teams.

Georgia Revolution FC, out of McDonough, Georgia, is already a familiar opponent for MOBA, and a budding in-state rival. Founded in 2010, the Revs have seen moderate success, qualifying for the NPSL playoffs in 2015 and the U.S. Open Cup in 2012 and 2013. Prior to the 2016 campaign, the two teams met up for the first time in McDonough, in a game that holds a special place in Georgia soccer history. Originally scheduled to have been played on April 30, a storm cut the game short just before halftime, and it was rescheduled to May 2nd. In the half they played, however, Revolution FC dominated the ball and the net. By the 20 minute mark, the Revs were up 2-0, and a third goal seemed imminent. MOBA struggled to get anything going, as any attacks they made were broken apart by the Revs defense. Just prior to the halftime whistle, however, thunder halted played, and after a thirty minute delay, the refs postponed the game.

In the day two rematch, things went a very different way. Five minutes into the matchup, MOBA's Ryan King took a corner kick that bounced around in the box, before ricocheting off the keeper and was drilled into the roof of the net. Not soon after, however, Revolution FC's Scott Redding scored off a perfectly placed corner, making the score 1-1. The two teams jarred back and forth for the rest of the half, but neither could find the net. At the break, the score remained 1-1.

The intensity of the first half carried over to the second, with both teams seeing chances that just would not go. After 85 minutes, however, the ball would find a home in the net once again. As the clock approached the 90 minute mark, the Revs played a ball into the box, and attacker Adam McCabe, having caught the keeper going right, rolled it far post and in. MOBA continued to try and press, but no equalizer came, and the game ended 2-1.

Having already gotten the first match out of the way, MOBA will be looking to redeem themselves following last year's road defeat. The pre-season series will feature two matches, one in McDonough on April 29th, and a second in Peachtree City May 3rd. The game marks the first time Peachtree City will play in their new complex, following the recent completion of the stadium. 2016 MOBA Proud MOTY Award

PDL Playoffs kicked off today, thus marking the transition between regular and post season. Now that MOBA's 2016 season is complete, it is finally safe to begin handing out recognition and awards for excellence in the sport, and there is no better prize than receiving the title of 2016 Man of the Year (the association football equivalent of MVP). The sport of football is based around two principles: Pride and Teamwork. However, teamwork does not mean that nobody deserves recognition for outstanding play. Match Preview: Peachtree City Open Second Half of Season Against Memphis

After such a promising start to the year that saw MOBA open 2-1-2 and reach the top of the table, back-to-back 2-0 away losses have sparked some fear that this season may degrade into a carbon copy of the previous two.
