Greensboro Proves Unforgiving as MOBA fall to Dynamo, 6-1

Football has always been an unpredictable sport. In a game that nobody thought Germany would win, the soon-to-be world champs walked all over Brazil in the 2014 World Cup semifinals, 7-1. Nobody thought Leicester City had a chance to win the Premier League title this year. They won it with several games to spare. Nobody can really call a game before it's over. Much less before it starts. After a 3-3 tie on Wednesday, MOBA was looking to finally get back in the win column after a dismal couple of weeks. The playoff-bound Carolina Dynamo had other plans. Carolina clinched their playoff spot Thursday night against the West Virginia Chaos, but they still had to lock up second place in the division. Peachtree City just happened to be the Smart Car in the path of the Semi-truck. Before anybody realized what was happening, Renato Punyed found the back of the net twice in the 12th and 14th minutes. MOBA would strike back with a goal of their own in the 53rd, but Carolina wasn't going to settle for 2-1 win. Steven James scored in the 60th, followed by Mamadee Nyepon's (the same Nyepon who scored twice in MOBA's first ever home game) goal in the 66th. Indy Fuller added two late, and the Dynamo rolled on to a 6-1 win in the season finale.

Okay, so now that the pain of talking about loss is over with, let's take a look at what this game actually meant for Peachtree City. After a lively, exciting first season of PDL soccer here in Peachtree City, we finally have to say goodbye for 10 months. It's a tough goodbye, especially since it seems very sudden (no thanks to the schedule makers, who gave us all 7 of our home games one after the other). But we won't be going home without remembering some excitement. Our first taste of the back of the net come off a incredible recovery by Alex Rotoloni in the first game of the year, giving MOBA a 1-0 lead. Our first victory was a sight for sore eyes as Omar Jarun put on a show with 2 goals against Tri-Cities in Johnsonville in game 2. Iain Smith gave us the upper-hand over in-state rivals Tormenta FC in early June with a 1-0 victory in Stateboro. All in attendance will remember the excitement of Jessey Hein pulling something out of nothing as he netted the game winner against Tri-Cities (at home this time) in the 94th minute. And we all will remember Todd Fidler's beauty from 30+ yards out against Tormenta in the home finale. Nobody ever said goodbye was easy, but Peachtree City MOBA didn't send us home unhappy. No matter the outcome, we are proud of our team, and we can't wait for next season.

2016 MOBA Proud MOTY Award

PDL Playoffs kicked off today, thus marking the transition between regular and post season. Now that MOBA's 2016 season is complete, it is finally safe to begin handing out recognition and awards for excellence in the sport, and there is no better prize than receiving the title of 2016 Man of the Year (the association football equivalent of MVP). The sport of football is based around two principles: Pride and Teamwork. However, teamwork does not mean that nobody deserves recognition for outstanding play. A team may work well together and share the ball, but there is always at least one player that truly stands out. And that player, more often than not, receives the Man of the Year award. Match Preview: Peachtree City Open Second Half of Season Against Memphis

After such a promising start to the year that saw MOBA open 2-1-2 and reach the top of the table, back-to-back 2-0 away losses have sparked some fear that this season may degrade into a carbon copy of the previous two. As a result of the two losses and results across the division, South Georgia Tormenta FC and Mississippi Brilla FC are running away with the division, and if MOBA want to get themselves back into the race, it will require an immediate turn around and some immediate success.
