Peachtree City Sign Memphis Midfielder Luke Biasi

The midfield position is one of the most demanding in the sport. Going from end-line to end-line, midfielders find themselves sprinting the length of the pitch multiple times throughout a match, attacking and defending. Playing in the middle requires a lot of stamina and endurance, along with skill and an ability to play in every facet of the game. Come the final whistle, the result could very well be weighted on the performance of the midfielders, and with that, only the best survive, and MOBA's latest signing looks as if he could be found on the top of the pile.

Out of Buford, Georgia, midfielder Luke Biasi showed a lot of potential growing up in the Georgia system, and that potential carried over into his first collegiate season. Biasi played six years for Atlanta Fire United growing up to go along with a year with Georgia United. In 2016, Biasi joined the United Futbol Academy, where he shined. With UFA, Biasi helped guide the club to an unbeaten 7-0-2 record and a Region III Championship. Biasi received numerous awards during his time with UFA, including being selected First Team All-Region and First Team All-Georgia, as well as being recognized by the National League. Academically, Biasi stood out, ranking in the top five percent of his class and receiving an AP Scholar Award.

Prior to the 2017 collegiate season, Biasi committed to the University of Memphis where he saw significant playing time his freshman season. Playing alongside fellow MOBA signing Chris Mikus, Biasi played in fifteen matches in 2017, starting seven. The Tigers went 3-7-5 with Biasi on the pitch and 2-2-3 in his starts. Biasi's best game of the season came on September 10 at Missouri State, when he came on as a sub in the fifty-ninth minute. Memphis gave up a headed goal on thirty-four minutes and went down 1-0, and with half an hour remaining, head coach Richard Mulrooney decided to send out Biasi, which turned out to be a game-changing decision. In the eighty-second minute of the match, it was Biasi who got on the end of Burke Fahling's cross and headed it in, drawing the match level with just a few minutes left on the clock, but he was not done. In the eighty-eighth minute, it was Biasi once again, this time picking up the assist on Charles Blankenship's header that secured the 2-1 victory for the Tigers, their first win of the 2017 season. Winning the AAC Rookie of the Week, Biasi had earned Mulrooney's trust, as he played more and more minutes each match until he started the final six matches of the season.

With practically his entire college career ahead of him, Luke Biasi has a ton of potential to develop into quite a star, and the PDL is the perfect place for him to refine his skills in a professional environment under Omar Jarun. Going into 2018, Biasi could see significant playing time with the yellow and black, and the chemistry he developed with Chris Mikus at Memphis could prove invaluable during the season. The 2018 MOBA roster is already full of great talent, and with every signing anticipation just continues to build for the new season.

2016 MOBA Proud MOTY Award

PDL Playoffs kicked off today, thus marking the transition between regular and post season. Now that MOBA's 2016 season is complete, it is finally safe to begin handing out recognition and awards for excellence in the sport, and there is no better prize than receiving the title of 2016 Man of the Year (the association football equivalent of MVP). The sport of football is based around two principles: Pride and Teamwork. However, teamwork does not mean that nobody deserves recognition for outstanding play. Match Preview: Peachtree City Open Second Half of Season Against Memphis

After such a promising start to the year that saw MOBA open 2-1-2 and reach the top of the table, back-to-back 2-0 away losses have sparked some fear that this season may degrade into a carbon copy of the previous two. As a result of the two losses and results across the division, South Georgia Tormenta FC and Mississippi Brilla FC are running away with the division, and if MOBA want to get themselves back into the race, it will require an immediate turn around and some immediate success.
