Match Preview: MOBA-Revs Rematch in Peachtree City

Few things in sports are more exciting than a rematch. Two teams that had battled it out not to long ago go after each other again in a battle to secure dominance. Cavaliers-Warriors, Alabama-Clemson, the soon to be Falcons-Patriots; everybody loves an exciting rematch, and following Saturday's friendly in Hampton, the stage now shifts to Peachtree City for the second match between Peachtree City MOBA and Georgia Revolution FC.

Saturday saw MOBA head into Hampton, Georgia and pull off quite the upset. After falling in last year's matchup in heartbreaking fashion, MOBA looked to even up the series at one apiece. The game started off in surprising fashion, as MOBA took control early and never let up. A beautifully placed free kick from Santiago Moore saw the away team take a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. The pressure continued, and Peachtree City put their foot down in the 43rd minute, as Santiago Moore found the back of the net for the second time after goalkeeper Bryce Billington could not pull the ball in and Moore coolly placed the it in the net. At the half, MOBA was up 2-0, and the Revs needed to find a spark. Following the break, Georgia's struggles continued as Peachtree City stayed on the offensive, and Todd Fidler slotted the ball home in the 47th minute, putting the visitors up 3-0, and, barring an outstanding comeback, just about locked up the victory for PTC. That comeback never came, and the game came to an end at 3-0.

No doubt an outstanding offensive effort from Peachtree City, it was MOBA's defense that kept the Revs on their heels the whole night. Spearheaded by defender Salomon Lorenzano and Kristian Javier, the backline for MOBA formed a nearly impenetrable wall, allowing MOBA's midfielders to step in and get the ball going the other way. Peachtree City will need the same energy and intensity they played with in Hampton if they hope to capture their first pre-season win at the new MOBA Soccer Academy. The Peachtree City leg of the series is expected to be energetic from both sides, as the Revs hope to get redemption and take a lead in the overall series.

Keys to Victory

  • Keep Up the Intensity: Don't let Saturday's 3-0 win get you ahead of yourself. Respect the Revs attack and defense, and play with the same fire that got you three goals. Defense will be crucial, as the Revs will almost definitely be looking to press from the opening kickoff.
  • Play Your Game: Don't try to do too much. Football is a team game, and there are eleven men out on the pitch. Every one of them will play a role in getting the victory on the home ground.
Wednesday's match is expected to kickoff at 7:30 PM, and admission is free. All fans are invited to enjoy a night of soccer at the brand new MOBA Soccer Academy off Highway 74. Be loud and be proud as MOBA prepares the team for the 2017 PDL season!
