College Update: NCAA D2, NAIA MOBA Players Continue Great Form

During MOBA's first two years in the PDL, a large amount of the players that have made up the rosters have been players from schools in the NCAA Division II and the NAIA. While these players may not receive the national attention they deserve, they continue to impress those that are watching and draw eyes with each passing week. Through the first month of the season, Peachtree City players from these schools have been in great form, scoring goals and contributing positive minutes to teams that continue to win.

Robinson Continues to Score for Queens

After a somewhat shaky start to the season in which Edmundo Robinson only scored twice in the Royals first five matches, all the speculation can finally be put aside. Through nine games, the Queens #11 is truly on song, as he has now scored six goals in his last six games to go along with his team-high two assists. A prolific striker for MOBA in the late matches of last season, Robinson has carried over his success to Charlotte, where he has his Royals team scoring mounds of goals while the defense works out its struggles, as they recorded their first clean sheet since game three on September 27th against Barton. Queens now find themselves with mostly conference matches remaining on the schedule, four of which are at home. If the Royals can take advantage of what they have left, they can earn themselves a high seed in the SAC tournament, and they have plenty of talent to potentially win the title in Rock Hill.

Duque, Belmont Abbey Roll on to 5-1

After a scorching start that saw the Crusaders start 4-0 while only conceding one goal, it was Mars Hill who finally got the best of Belmont, scoring two goals on the road to hand the Crusaders their first loss of the season on September 23rd. How they would bounce back from their first loss would spell out the remainder of the season, so their September 27th match against Geinner Duque's MOBA teammate Daniel Olaniran and Mount Olive quickly became the most important game of the early season. The match started quickly, with both teams taking shots in the first ten minutes, but it was Belmont Abbey who broke the deadlock, as Duque buried his second goal of the season to put the Crusaders up one early. Ten minutes before the break, it was George Espina who added the second to make it a 2-0 game. Shortly after the half, Julien Armoroli scored from the spot, and Nando Morales added a fourth in the eighty-third minute to seal the win. Now sitting at 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Conference Carolinas, the Crusaders are staring down a nearly full schedule of conference games to set up the post-season.

Fidler Brothers Run Rampant at Reinhardt

In a season that has really been the Jordan Williams show, Todd and Gus Fidler have been players who have really gone under the radar at Reinhardt, but that all changed on September 24th. Facing St. Andrews after their dramatic 3-2 double overtime victory against Bryan College, the Eagles were looking to continue their hot start to conference play, and that is just what they did. After going down 1-0 early, it was Gus Fidler who got the equalizer just after halftime, before the Knights added a second just ten minutes later. In the sixty-seventh minute, the Eagles were able to draw level once again, but this time it was Todd who did the honors, scoring his second goal of the season. Just two minutes later, it was Gus once again who put the Eagles on top for good, followed once more by Todd less than a minute later. In one of the less frequent events in football, both brothers recorded a brace in the Eagles 4-2 victory, which was quickly followed up by a 5-0 home victory against Point University in which Todd recorded an assist. Going forward, Reinhardt are 4-0 in conference play, but have mostly tough road games during the month of October, including a currently 11-1 Bluefield College side on October 22nd.
