MOBA Announces New Youth Clubs

In a sport that prides itself on development and growing players within a franchise to compete at the highest level, one advantage that a team can have is to create a youth academy for young players to grow their talents in a professional environment. The best clubs, from Atlanta United to Manchester United, all have youth clubs for local athletes to play on and grow as players, and as of February 16th, Peachtree City MOBA will be joining that prestigious group of clubs. MOBA announced on Thursday that they will be introducing youth clubs for ages U16, U17, and U18/19 that will play and train at the MOBA Soccer Academy upon its completion. The teams will all play in the Georgia state youth soccer leagues, where placement will be based on the history of playing of all the players who sign on with the teams, as the overall goal is to reach the top tier of competition as soon as possible. Each age group will have two teams, one male and one female team, with ages ranging from 16 to 19.

“We are very excited about the addition of our own youth teams at the MOBA Soccer Academy. We will create new teams to compete in the state league and help open up career paths for our youth soccer players.  Our focus will be on getting players equipped for college soccer and possibly a professional soccer career.  These players will also provide us with a homegrown player pool feeding into our current adult teams, including the men’s PDL team Peachtree City MOBA.  We are planning to train these young men and women in a world-class environment where they can develop to their maximum potential, and at the same time create a real club atmosphere, where soccer is a way of life.”  - Volker Harms, Owner
As Mr. Harms stated, the overall goal of the program is to develop young players into great collegiate players and potentially professional players in a world-class training facility, and that development begins with high level competition as a young athlete. Not only will the program hope to make pros out of local players, but the youth clubs will also open a pool of homegrown players that will go directly onto the roster for PDL side Peachtree City MOBA. Homegrown players have always played a huge role in professional soccer, as players such as Wayne Rooney, Gareth Bale, and Andy King all began their careers as homegrowns, and Peachtree City hopes to find the same success here in Fayette County.

The teams will begin play in Fall of 2017, with tryouts coming in June. Coaches of each youth club along with tryout dates and times will be announced in the coming weeks.
