Young Blood: Analyzing MOBA's Latest Signings - Todd Fidler

One of the biggest parts of sports is whether or not a team will re-sign their biggest stars from the previous season. Sometimes teams make that their priority and pounce on the soonest opportunity, and other times the player signs with another team and their career takes a new turn. For MOBA this offseason, it was the former as the team announced they have resigned breakout star Todd Fidler.

Todd Fidler - Reinhardt University

Let's just take a moment and remember July 13, 2016. Sitting at 3-8-1, MOBA had been struggling to score goals all season, and with Tormenta FC coming to Starr's Mill Stadium, they were going to need to find a way to put the ball in the back of the net. Well, they found it, and from an unlikely source. Todd Fidler, in his first match with the team, scored not once, but twice (including a beauty
from thirty yards out) and MOBA and Tormenta tied at three a-piece. A disappointing conclusion, the game was no doubt one of MOBA's most exciting, and it wouldn't have been that way without Mr. Fidler.

Todd, a midfielder from Charlwood, England, came to the U.S. following a successful youth career with English clubs West Ham United, Brentford FC, and Fulham FC. After settling down in Peachtree City, Todd went on to attend Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia. As a sophomore for the Eagles, Fidler scored three goals and notched two assists in sixteen games, ranking him fourth on the team in both categories. The Eagles went 12-4-1 overall, falling to Bluefield in the AAC championship game. Following the season, Fidler was named to the All-AAC First Team along with three of his teammates, as well as being named to the NSCAA Second-Team All-Region East team.
"Todd has been a great addition for us this year as a player and a person.  He embodies many of the qualities I look for in a student-athlete and with his work ethic, driven personality, and natural ability. I am confident that he will continue to push his ceiling of potential even higher.  I am pleased that both the AAC and NSCAA have recognized him for his efforts this season." - Joey Johnson, Head Coach, Reinhardt Eagles Men's Soccer
Having already made a great impression on former Peachtree City head coach Jordan Davis and owner Volker Harms, it is no surprise they decided to bring Todd back for the 2017 season. Joining new signee Jackson Morse in the midfield, MOBA will surely have a strong core for their second year on the pitch. With more signings to be made, look for Peachtree City to add some quality strikers to the roster to fill the void left by players who have departed.
