2018 Peachtree City MOBA WPSL Season Preview

In just four days, history will be made at MOBA Soccer Academy as manager Campbell Chapman leads the Peachtree City MOBA WPSL side into their inaugural season. Following the incredible success of the youth club and growth of the PDL side, the MOBA women's team will cap off the pyramid of development that owner Volker Harms has looked to create in Peachtree City. The Women's Premier Soccer League is the largest women's league in the United States, fielding over 100 clubs across the country and in Canada.

Ahead of their inaugural season, a number of great signings have been made of well-developed, talented athletes from across the country that are looking to make an immediate impact out on the pitch. Some of the most notable names include Emma Carlson from Duke, Charlotte McCormack from Clayton State, and Abby Ott from Furman. Carlson, a seasoned goal-scorer who has transitioned to a defensive role, seems well-primed to make a splash right from the get-go, as success early in her Duke career should treat her well come Sunday. McCormack, a graduate of Clayton State and a native of Ireland, has already shown the world that she has the ability to play at a high level. Following four phenomenal years with the Lakers, McCormack represented her country in a friendly against the United States in San Jose before becoming a youth coach, where she has thrived, however she has been called upon to don the gloves once again as leader of this young MOBA side. Ott, a Peachtree City native and McIntosh graduate, has already experienced great success in her career, winning a state championship with the Chiefs her senior year before committing to Furman, where injuries have limited her playing time, but she has been quite remarkable in the time she has received. The 2018 roster is loaded with solid talent, and if they can gel together under Chapman, Peachtree City could be a very dangerous team.

Peachtree City find themselves in a very strong division in 2018, as Nashville Rhythm FC and Memphis Lobos both had very respectable seasons last year, and Chattanooga FC have always been well-known for bringing in solid talent and large crowds on both the men's and women's sides. The other team in the Southeast, Emerald Force, have rebranded since last season when they were known as Knoxville Lady Force, and they have been giant killers in years past. The brief, eight-match season will go quickly, and it will be crucial to get off to a fast start if the playoffs are to be in the future for Peachtree City. With the talent they have brought in, there is nothing to say MOBA will not be competitive in their first season, and manager Campbell Chapman has the knowledge and ability to fix things quickly without sacrificing the season.

Peachtree City kick off their inaugural season on Sunday, May 20th at 7:00 PM in Nashville, and their first home match will be on Wednesday, May 30th at 8:00 PM when they face Emerald Force. Tickets for that match and the whole season can be found at MOBASoccer.com/tickets.

2016 MOBA Proud MOTY Award

PDL Playoffs kicked off today, thus marking the transition between regular and post season. Now that MOBA's 2016 season is complete, it is finally safe to begin handing out recognition and awards for excellence in the sport, and there is no better prize than receiving the title of 2016 Man of the Year (the association football equivalent of MVP). The sport of football is based around two principles: Pride and Teamwork. However, teamwork does not mean that nobody deserves recognition for outstanding play. A team may work well together and share the ball, but there is always at least one player that truly stands out. And that player, more often than not, receives the Man of the Year award. Match Preview: Peachtree City Open Second Half of Season Against Memphis

After such a promising start to the year that saw MOBA open 2-1-2 and reach the top of the table, back-to-back 2-0 away losses have sparked some fear that this season may degrade into a carbon copy of the previous two. As a result of the two losses and results across the division, South Georgia Tormenta FC and Mississippi Brilla FC are running away with the division, and if MOBA want to get themselves back into the race, it will require an immediate turn around and some immediate success.
