MOBA Unveil PDL Coaching Staff for 2018 Season

With 2018 drawing nigh, it is time to begin thinking about the 2018 PDL season. 2018 marks MOBA's third year in the league, and hopes are high following the club's first two years in the league. While the roster is yet to be formed, the coaching staff has been set with the hope of finally having some stability on the touchline. Over the club's first two seasons, Peachtree City has seen three different head coaches and a number of assistants, but with the youth system finally set in place (and seeing great success), focus can finally be put on improving the highest level of soccer the club has to offer. MOBA announced former Northern Irish international Campbell Chapman as the head coach of the women's team back on November 6th, and on the 16th the club announced who would be taking the reins of the PDL side.

Omar Jarun - Head Coach

Arguably one of the biggest names to come out of Peachtree City, Jarun has seen his career come full circle over the last twelve years. Entering the professional ranks back in 2004 as a member of the PDL's Fort Wayne Fever before joining Chicago Fire Premier during the Summer of 2005. Following a short stint in the Fire system, Jarun joined forces with the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2006 during their tenure in the USL First Division. Jarun played in forty-five matches with the Silverbacks, scoring one goal out of the back, helping guide the club to the league final where they fell to the MLS-bound Seattle Sounders. In 2008, Jarun made the transfer to fellow First Division side Vancouver Whitecaps, playing twenty-four matches and scoring once en route to a USL championship. At the end of the season, Jarun was released from the club, and from there he made his first journey overseas. Jarun spent two seasons in the Polish system with two different clubs, Flota Świnoujście and MKS Pogoń Szczecin, before being released from Pogoń in 2011. Jarun then traveled back to America to join FC Tampa Bay in their first NASL season. After playing just seven matches with the club, Jarun was brought back to Poland by his Flota coach Petr Nemec to sign with Arka Gdynia. Following Nemec's departure from the club in 2012, Jarun signed with Belgian side Royal Charleroi SC, but only played in two matches over his two years there. Jarun came back to North America to play for NASL club Ottawa Fury FC, playing in sixteen matches and scoring twice during the 2014 season. In 2015, Jarun made one last trip overseas to play for Bharat FC of the Indian I-League, appearing in thirteen matches and scoring three goals. In June 2015, Jarun announced he was retiring from professional football, however in 2016, he came back to Peachtree City to play for MOBA in their first PDL season, scoring three goals in eight matches. Between 2007 and 2014, Jarun appeared in fifteen matches for the Palestinian National Team, including World Cup Qualifiers, AFC Challenge Cup matches, and the WAFF Championship.

Following the 2016 season, Jarun officially retired, joining the MOBA coaching staff as an assistant under owner and head coach Volker Harms in 2017, as well as coaching the youth clubs. Jarun did take over head coaching duties mid-season, however, helping guide the team to their first three points at home against Tri-Cities FC on June 27th.

Nick Addlery - Assistant Coach

A former Jamaican International and professional all across North America, Nick Addlery has enjoyed an esteemed career as a member of eight clubs. Kicking off his career with the South Starworld Strikers of the Trinidad and Tobago Pro League, the Jamaican forward played in fourteen matches with the Strikers over a two year period, scoring twelve goals. In 2005, Addlery signed with San Juan Jabloteh FC, scoring three goals in sixteen matches. In 2006, Addlery made the leap across the globe to join Đồng Nai FC in Vietnam, playing in just five matches and scoring twice before coming to the United States. Addlery joined DC United of Major League Soccer in 2007, scoring one goal in eleven matches, winning Player of the Week honors in week thirteen as DC went on to win their fourth Supporters' Shield in club history. Following his sole MLS season, Addlery joined forces with Jarun in Vancouver as a member of the Whitecaps during their championship season, playing in twenty-seven matches and scoring six times before being released by the club alongside Jarun. Following his release, Addlery made the best decision of his career, joining the Puerto Rico Islanders, the team Vancouver beat in the previous year's championship match. During his three years with the club, Addlery featured in 108 matches, scoring forty-eight times. Addlery was loaned to Salvadoran side Club Deportivo Águila in 2009, scoring five goals before returning to Puerto Rico. As a member of the Islanders, Addlery played a key role in the club's CONCACAF Champions League and CFU Club Championship success. In 2010, Addlery scored two goals in the Islanders' 4-1 road victory over then MLS Leaders LA Galaxy, before finishing the job at home with a 5-3 aggregate victory to qualify for the Champions League for a third straight year. Addlery departed the club in 2012 as the Islanders' All-Time Leading Scorer, and arguably the greatest player to ever play for the club. From 2000 to 2010, Addlery played twelve matches for the Jamaican National Team, including Gold Cup matches against Haiti, Peru, El Salvador, and Costa Rica.

Felipe Quintero - Goalkeeper Coach

A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Felipe Quintero brings a wealth of goalkeeping experience to a club that has struggled to keep the opposition out of the net. Growing up in the Club Deportivo Guadalajara youth system, Quintero played most of his career as a member of the Atlanta Silverbacks. Joining the club in 2006, Quintero was the Silverbacks' first choice keeper playing in fifty-four matches between 2006 and 2008, when the club went on hiatus. Upon their return to professional soccer, Quintero resigned with the club in 2011 as a member of the NASL, playing in ten matches and recording one clean sheet before departing the team. As a coach, Quintero has been an assistant all over Georgia, including Marist High School, Concorde Fire, and Georgia ODP Region Staff.

The PDL season takes place between the months of May and July, alongside the WPSL team. Tryouts are scheduled for January 6th, 2018, and registration is available at MOBASoccer.com.

2016 MOBA Proud MOTY Award

PDL Playoffs kicked off today, thus marking the transition between regular and post season. Now that MOBA's 2016 season is complete, it is finally safe to begin handing out recognition and awards for excellence in the sport, and there is no better prize than receiving the title of 2016 Man of the Year (the association football equivalent of MVP). The sport of football is based around two principles: Pride and Teamwork. However, teamwork does not mean that nobody deserves recognition for outstanding play. A team may work well together and share the ball, but there is always at least one player that truly stands out. And that player, more often than not, receives the Man of the Year award. Match Preview: Peachtree City Open Second Half of Season Against Memphis

After such a promising start to the year that saw MOBA open 2-1-2 and reach the top of the table, back-to-back 2-0 away losses have sparked some fear that this season may degrade into a carbon copy of the previous two.
