MOBA Announces New Youth Clubs

Image
In a sport that prides itself on development and growing players within a franchise to compete at the highest level, one advantage that a team can have is to create a youth academy for young players to grow their talents in a professional environment. The best clubs, from Atlanta United to Manchester United, all have youth clubs for local athletes to play on and grow as players, and as of February 16th, Peachtree City MOBA will be joining that prestigious group of clubs. MOBA announced on Thursday that they will be introducing youth clubs for ages U16, U17, and U18/19 that will play and train at the MOBA Soccer Academy upon its completion. The teams will all play in the Georgia state youth soccer leagues, where placement will be based on the history of playing of all the players who sign on with the teams, as the overall goal is to reach the top tier of competition as soon as possible. Each age group will have two teams, one male and one female team, with ages ranging from 16 to 1...

MOBA's 2017 Regular Season Schedule Set

Image
At long last, the wait is over. Peachtree City MOBA's 2017 regular season schedule has been released. As important as last season was, being it MOBA's inaugural season, this season is arguably more important, as the team is finally moving into their permanent home at the MOBA Soccer Academy, along with all the amenities that come with it, including locker rooms, weight rooms, classrooms, and, most importantly, the MOBA Soccer Stadium. The brand-new 1,000 seat stadium off Highway 74 will be the site for some of MOBA's biggest games of the 2017 season. May 13th @ Nashville SC U23 - Season Opener Few games hold more importance than the season opener, and this season is no exception as MOBA will travel to Nashville, Tennessee to take on Nashville SC U23 in Nashville's first ever match. PDL affiliate of the USL's Nashville SC, the U23 squad was announced as a new franchise in the PDL back in September, as the USL side looks to build the structure for player ...

Bubble Soccer Update: High School Soccer on the Horizon

Image
One of the joys of the great sport of soccer is that no matter what time of year it is, you can always find soccer somewhere, whether it's the PDL in the summer, MLS from spring to fall, European leagues in the winter, and college in the fall. No matter where you look, you never run out of soccer to watch, and with spring fast approaching, you can add one more item to the list, as the high school soccer season is about to kick off. In Peachtree City specifically, soccer has played an integral role in the area. With the two local high schools being so close, and the success between both schools' programs, it is no wonder the rivalry is so strong. Starr's Mill Panthers Starr's Mill has had quite a successful run in the sport of soccer in its history. Claiming a total of 8 state championships amongst the boys and girls teams (the 2000 boy's championship team featured former MOBA head coach Jordan Davis, and the 2010 boy's championship team featured MOBA'...

PDL League Update: 30+ PDL Players Invited to 2017 MLS Combine

Image
#Path2Pro. That is the motto of the Premier Development League. Laying down the path for aspiring athletes to make it to the pros, and with the 2017 MLS Superdraft coming up on the 13th, that path may be nearing an end for some. The 2017 MLS Combine, which kicked off January 7th, featured 68 young players from around the globe looking to make it to the bigs, and with the recent addition of Atlanta United FC and Minnesota United FC, it just got a bit easier. Nevertheless, the combine is a highly competitive way of evaluating the players through full 11 vs 11 matches. Among the 68 players, more than 30 of those had some PDL experience, helping boost the idea that, if you want to make it big, the PDL is where it all begins. Jacori Hayes - Midfielder - DC United U-23 Playing for the now-defunct DC United U-23 team in 2015, Hayes had an outstanding year, playing in 9 of the team's games, scoring 4 goals and 1 assist. Hayes was also an integral part of the Wake Forest men...

MOBA Update: PDL Tryouts Kickoff at MSA

Happy New Year, Peachtree City! With a new PDL season fast approaching, the time has come to evaluate new talent to join returning members of last year's squad in the 2017 season. 2016 brought tremendous talent to the Peachtree City area in players such as Omar Jarun, Ryan King, Bryson Asher, Nick Spielman, Salomon Lorenzano, and late-season standout Todd Fidler, among others. With several of those players returning for 2017, the coaching staff looks to fill the roster with some outstanding talent that can give the Charlotte Eagles a fight for the South Atlantic division title. MOBA's inaugural season was nothing to call home about, as they finished 3-9-2 on the year, good for 6th in the division. It did provide a number of exciting stories, however, including the season sweep of Tri-cities and the dramatic series against rival Tormenta FC (let's just take a moment and remember Mr. Fidler ... thank you). Look for that excitement to carry into the new year, as we ...

Year in Review: Looking Back at MOBA's Bright Inaugural Year

2016 - a year full of ... well ... anything and everything you could possibly think of, from happiness to heartbreak. Peyton Manning took home a Super Bowl ring in his final season. Román Torres scored the game-winning penalty kick as Seattle Sounders FC took home its first MLS Cup title. The Chicago Cubs took home their first World Series title in over 100 years. We also lost a number of big names in Prince, Craig Sager, Muhammad Ali, David Bowie, Arnold Palmer, and others. However, in this up and down year, soccer in the state of Georgia took a huge step forward on the back of the MOBA Soccer Academy. Peachtree City MOBA Making Waves in the PDL Coming into 2016, word was spreading that the PDL was coming to Peachtree City in the form of Peachtree City MOBA, but little did we know the effect that would have on the community. Preparations began, and the talent flooded to the area as head coach Jordan Davis and owner Volker Harms looked to build a team to compete. Slowly but sure...

MOBA Soccer Academy Becoming a Hub of PTC Sports

Image
In January 2015, it was announced that the German company MOBA Mobile Automation AG would be meeting with Peachtree City to discuss plans to build a new 50,000 square foot office building and soccer complex on Highway 74. A strange combination of projects, several months later, the project was approved, and construction began almost immediately. In a mere few months, it became arguably one of the best decisions the board has ever made. Fast forward to December 2016, the new MOBA Soccer Academy is nearing completion, and already the effect it was intended to have on Peachtree City sports is being felt. When the idea was proposed, Mr. Volker Harms said he hoped to provide Peachtree City and the surrounding area with an opportunity to unite out on the pitch, and that is just what happened. The facilities aren't even complete, but the fields are, and that's all we need. They may be soccer fields, but that doesn't mean only soccer has to be ...
